The short version
- We want everyone to be able to order and read our books.
- We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.
- If anything gets in your way, write to [email protected]: we will help you complete your order and can send your book in a format that works for you.
1. What we do
- Text alternatives for meaningful images, and real text rather than pictures of text in our pages wherever possible.
- Pages that can be navigated with a keyboard and enlarged without losing content.
- Readable contrast and type sizes in our pages and books.
- Books delivered as PDF files that can be enlarged and read by assistive technology, with the text also available on request as a plain document.
2. Where we know there are gaps
- Some animated steps in our ordering pages may be hard to use with a screen reader.
- Some decorative images and badges do not yet have suitable text alternatives.
- Maps, coats of arms and illustrations in our books are visual; their content is described in the surrounding text.
- Payment fields are provided by Stripe and follow its own accessibility standards.
3. Ask us for help
Write to [email protected] with “Accessibility” in the subject and tell us what got in the way. We reply within 2 business days, and we can take your order by email and send your book in an alternative format. If a barrier stopped you from using a book you bought, our guarantee window does not run against you while we fix it.
4. How we keep working on this
We review our pages when we change them and fix the problems you report. This statement is updated when that work changes what it says.
