The short version
- Digital books arrive by email within 3 business days of your order, usually sooner.
- Printed copies are made to order after you approve a proof, then printed and shipped by our printing partner with tracking.
- We ship printed copies to the United States, Canada and Australia.
- Outside the United States the destination may charge import taxes or fees on arrival; your order confirmation says who pays them.
1. Digital books
Your book is delivered to the email address you enter at checkout within 3 business days of your order. Where your edition includes a private web page, its link arrives by email too. Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding U.S. public holidays.
Nothing is shipped for a digital book, and there is no delivery charge.
If it has not arrived: check your spam, junk and promotions folders and the address you entered, then write to [email protected]. We resend it at no charge, to a different address if you wish.
2. Printed copies
- We prepare your book and send you a proof to approve, together with the number of copies, dedications, addresses, price and estimated delivery.
- Once you approve, our printing partner (Lulu Press, Inc.) prints and binds the copies, usually in 3 to 5 business days.
- They are shipped with tracking. Typical transit after dispatch: 3 to 7 business days within the United States, and 5 to 10 business days to Canada and Australia.
Delivery dates are estimates that we confirm with your order. If we expect to miss the date we gave you, we tell you by email, and you may choose to wait or cancel.
3. Where we ship
We ship printed copies to the United States, Canada and Australia. For other countries, write to [email protected] before ordering and we will tell you whether we can.
4. Customs, taxes and import fees
- United States: no import charges.
- Canada: copies are printed in the United States, so GST or HST, and a carrier’s brokerage fee, may be charged on arrival.
- Australia: GST on low-value imported goods is normally collected at the time of purchase, so nothing should be charged on arrival.
Unless your order confirmation says that we cover them, import charges are payable by the recipient. Printed books are generally free of customs duty in all three countries.
5. Addresses, damage and lost parcels
We ship to the addresses you confirm. A parcel returned because an address was wrong or incomplete is reprinted at cost. Parcels that arrive damaged or defective, or are lost in transit, are covered by our 30-Day Book Guarantee: we reprint and resend, or refund if we cannot. 6. If a printed order is late
- United States: if we cannot ship within the time we gave you, we tell you before that date and you may wait or cancel; if you cancel, your payment for the copies is refunded promptly (Federal Trade Commission Mail Order Rule).
- Canada: if a printed order is not delivered within 30 days of the delivery date we gave you, you may cancel it and receive a full refund.
- Australia: your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply, as set out on our guarantee page.
